Templar Poetry have announced that Ruth Sharman is the winner of this year’s Straid Award for a full collection of poetry.

‘We are delighted to announce that Ruth Sharman is the winner of this year’s Straid Award for a full collection of poetry.

Her first full-length collection was published by Picador, and the title poem ‘Birth of the Owl Butterflies’ won second prize in the Arvon International Poetry Competition. It was subsequently included in the exam papers of the International Baccalaureate.
More recently, her work has appeared on Radio 4’s Something Understood.

Her collection ‘Scarlet Tiger’ will launch in Bath, as well as at Keats House in London, and at this year’s Derwent Festival. Congratulations, Ruth – we’re delighted to welcome you to Templar.’
